The legacy Mini Open headphone was an exercise in maximum minimalism - stripping down the enclosure to its most basic form to reveal the most potential of the drivers within. The question therefore arises - given the unique strengths of this type of on-ear design, what room is there for further optimization when there are so few variables at play? Carefully selected and tuned components have enabled this new version of the Mini Open to create an even wider soundstage and deliver a more detailed and natural-sounding experience.
When adding complexity to a design that prioritizes simplicity, each adjustment must be carefully calculated and balanced. In the O², we’ve focused on a few key areas of improvement since the original Mini Open design: Carefully adjusting the pressure of the ear pads to reduce clamping as well as carefully tuning the internal damping within the enclosure, the O² has been designed to provide a superior listening experience with improved soundstage and presence.
Comfort - The O2’s driver mounts seamlessly when against the ear. This ensures a secure and comfortable fit for long periods of wear, giving you high-quality sound for your audio needs.
Protection - The rear grill is acoustically inert, with shock-absorbing thermoplastic polyurethane and diffusive-absorptive 3D patterning for a perfect balance of protection and transparency, delivering an immersive sound free of distortion and echo.
Airflow -The O²'s baffle and back cap both feature patterns for an open sound, while the earpads are designed with a lighter, wider pore pattern to increase dynamic response. Cutaways in the rear chamber minimize internal reflections and resonance.
Kinetic Coupler - Instead of directly linking the driver to the inflexible housing to pass on a wide range of energy, O²'s driver (our proprietary driver) is seated inside a vibration-dampening TPU buffer, allowing for greater control of mechanical conduction and a more precise dynamic profile.
Nylon Mesh Throttling - O2 features our new variable density nylon mesh filters applied directly to the rear frame of the driver, improving midrange balance and transient response for enhanced resolve.
